Welcome Aboard the Disneyland Railroad! is a new book by Steve DeGaetano, Editor of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society newsletter The Carolwood Chronicle, that documents, in elaborate detail, the history and operation of the Disneyland steam trains. Steve has designed this book to appeal to Disney fans as well as rail buffs who will be enthralled by the quantity and quality of the information presented in this book. Steve has spent over 10 years researching his subject, and is uniquely qualified to write the definitive account of the Disneyland steam trains. Countless interviews with Disneyland Railroad Engineers, Firemen, Conductors and Roundhouse personnel, as well as subject experts such as Michael Broggie and Bob Gurr, allowed Steve to bring both the complex history, as well as the day-to-day operations of the railroad to life. In addition to being an avid collector of Disneyland Railroad memorabilia, Steve is also an accomplished model railroader and artist. His print of the E.P. Ripley entitled One of Walt's hangs in the home of Walt Disney's daughter, Diane Disney Miller. An enthusiastic collector of railroadiana as well, his library of steam locomotive texts from the 19th and early 20th centuries has given him the knowledge needed to be able to properly fire and operate actual steam locomotives, which he has done under the tutelage of actual Disneyland Railroad Firemen and Engineers. This insider knowledge and hands-on experience allows Steve to be able to pass on a wealth of never-before explained technical information about the Disneyland steam trains to the reader through his engaging writing.
